Top Baby Shower Gift Ideas! * Little Miss…

Baby Showers can be fun and exciting, however they can also cause some anxiety over what to get.  No worries!  I’m here to help!  From necessities to favorite books check out the list below for help finding your perfect baby shower gift ideas!

*This post includes affiliate partner links.  This means that if you choose to make a purchase from the link then at no additional cost to you I may receive a small commission.*

All of these are tried and testing items as well as practical.   Practical can be very important when it comes to things for Mom and Baby.  While clothes are wonderful and amazing, many times new moms can be overwhelmed with the number of newborn clothes they receive, not to mention how many of those are not season-appropriate and won’t ever be worn.

  1. Diapers (various sizes)- There’s not a mom I know who wasn’t grateful for diapers.  No, they aren’t flashy and shiny but oh so needed!  Want to get creative with the diapers? Make a diaper cake!  My favorite diapers are from Honest Diapers ! Amazon offers many choices though for Diapers including Huggies and Pampers !
  2. Sophie The Giraffe– Make fun of it if you want- but I’m telling you from experience babies love this thing. When I had my son the nurse at the hospital was sharing how Sophie is part of her staple baby shower gifts to people.
  3. aden + anais Swaddle Blankets– These blankets are light, breathable and great for swaddling! They get softer the more they are washed. They are also nice to help provide extra protection over a stroller or carrier.  These are also useful even past the swaddling stages as light blankets for toddlers. My soon to be 6 year old uses it on car trips to cover her legs when she’s cold.
  4. Kinsa Smart Stick Digital Thermometer – Medical Thermometer with Fever & Health Tracking for Children and Adults– I LOVE this product! It’s so easy to use and helps me keep track with the kids are sick.  Side note- make sure you actually read the directions with using the extension piece or else you’ll get mad and frustrated for an hour like I did when in fact if you read the directions it’s incredibly easy lol)
  5. Aquaphor – This stuff works wonders! It’s a multi-purpose ointment that can be used from chapped cheeks, scrapes/scratches, diaper rash and more.
  6. Books- It’s never too early to start a book collection for the new baby! Some of my favorite picks are- Goodnight Moon, The Wonderful Things You Will Be, Moo Baa La La La, A Book of Sleep, and I can’t forget The Book with No Pictures (which is great for when they’re around 2!)
  7. Nursery Care Kit– These always come in handy!
  8. Bibs– whether used when feeding or to protect baby’s clothes from drool they are always handy!
  9. Baby Wash- My favorite is California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo and Body Wash, Fragrance Free. For whatever reason Johnson & Johnson broke my kids out on their faces.  The California Baby may seem expensive but it just takes a pump and the soap last a long time.
  10. Don’t forget Mommy! – A bag with items for mom to take to the hospital  is a great gift and very useful.  Travel size items of toothpaste, face wipes, small brush and hair ties, ect. make the trip to the hospital a little easier. This is a great option- Women’s Premium 19-piece Necessities Travel Kit.

Teaching Kindness In An Entitled World * Little Miss…

We live in an entitled society.  I’m not sure at what point it started but there are times when it feels like it’s taking over. People are either entitled to something or pointing fingers at why they haven’t accomplished a goal because it can’t be their fault after all.  I know it’s always happened and will always be around but to sit back and let it go on feels wrong.  It scares me, as a mom that my kids could fall into this way of thinking.  Here’s the absolute truth about it all- Nobody owes you anything. Be grateful for the good things that come along. Be kind to people, even when you don’t think they deserve it.   It’s tough sometimes, I know, but that doesn’t make it any less true..be kind

Teaching Graciousness

Graciousness doesn’t always come naturally.  There are times when you have to step back and pause a moment before you respond so that you can see the situation in a different light.

I try (not always successfully) to pass this along to my kids.  They are 5 and 3 so it’s not always the easiest thing to convey.  I recently had to explain that we don’t buy a toy every time we are in Target.  Let’s just say, it wasn’t the prettiest of situations at first…did I mention we go to Target a lot?    It’s a struggle as any parent knows.

The Doll Kind

This past Christmas I came across a new doll from a company called The DOLL KIND.   You choose a doll, it comes with tokens on one said it says “Pay It Forward” on the other it says “This is a token is a sign of (love, kindness, ect). The idea is, that your child shares these tokens with others.  Their website has a great graphic on suggestions to do so-

AND…for each doll you buy one is donated to a less fortunate child.  The donation sites include orphanages, hospitals, shelters and more throughout both the United States and other parts of the world.

I love this doll because it promotes kindness and thinking of others.  It promotes taking the time out to ‘pay it forward’ and put a smile on someone’s face. My daughter loves to share these with people and a lot of times she tries to do it anonymously (which she came up with on her own).  My son, who is 3 doesn’t quite get the whole concept but he’s learning it which fills my hear with joy.

We have Masha (The Grace Doll) and Jack (The Hope Doll).  I love that not only are they adorable, but they teach a lesson as well.  Not to mention that you get one, you give one.  Teaching kindness and being mindful of it as well as graciousness takes time and even as adults we have to be reminded of it.  This is a great way to open up that conversation with your child and use it as a reminder as well.

Masha & Jack⇑ ♥

One of the tokens that come in the pack 🙂
